Slack and Jira, writing to the record instead of about it

A chat thread linked to an account record

Most integrations are read-only in practice: a notification arrives in Slack, somebody reacts to it, and the conversation that follows never comes back. The decision lives in the channel and the record stays silent.

Reply in the channel, land on the record

A thread started from an account posts its replies back to that account. The person answering does not open anything or change what they were doing, and the record picks up the part that was missing.

Jira issues keep their link

An issue raised from a record stays joined to it in both directions. When it closes, the record says so — including the resolution, which is the sentence somebody will want in nine months.
